Doll Distributing recently teamed up with Ginger Johnson to enhance our team’s selling skills and let me tell you, we were thrilled! Our main activity was an afternoon sales meeting and training regarding beer and food pairings along with some added sales tips. Our team was excited, inquisitive, and attentive during her whole presentation and are still talking about her suggestions. It was wonderful working with her and I have heard great feedback from the team regarding this visit. We were grateful to be able to broaden our learning through Ginger’s vast array of knowledge. -Lauren Doll-Sheeder, Doll Distributing, Des Moines IA

I worked with Ginger during the investigation and start-up phase of my new brewing venture. Ginger is extremely knowledgeable and tuned into gender issues in business and especially the beer market. She was also very helpful and straight forward regarding the marketing approach I was pursuing. I would highly recommend Ginger for any marketing and research projects that you might have. – Grant Core, Northwest Specialty Beverage, Boise, ID

Ginger Johnson has more ideas – good ones – in five minutes than most people have in five years. Moreover, she knows how to execute those ideas. … Ginger produces not just the ideas, but the reality. She is also – and most important – a woman of enormous integrity and thus a rare combination of talent, creativity, hard work, and honesty. – Maureen Ogle, Historian, Author, Ambitious Brew: The Story Of American Beer

Ginger Johnson is incredibly passionate about spreading the good word on beer! As a beer wholesaler, in a smaller market, we were able to utilize her skills and knowledge to engage our consumers, retailers on how to taste beer, how to enjoy beer and how to pair beer with food. The most value to us came to our employees. Ginger was able to get some great training in with our staff, in a short amount of time, on how to really and truly “sell” beer. The information and training technique she gave us was offered in a unique way that made it easy for our ENTIRE staff to sing the praises of beer with confidence. I would highly recommend for any wholesaler to bring Ginger into their own markets, no matter the size. – Shannon McQuade-Ely, President, McQuade Distributing, Bismarck ND

The marketing consult we had with Ginger was the best session I had at the Craft Brewers Conference, one on one with you, and specifically focused. – Russ Klisch, President, Founder and Owner, Lakefront Brewery Inc., Milwaukee WI

“Let’s face it, the Craft Beer Industry – the beer industry in general – has tended to overlook the female side of the market. The point is not so much marketing TO women, but in making sure they are included in the party. Ginger Johnson is not only adept at educating brewers to open their eyes to this under served market segment, but in giving brewer’s practical ways to tap this enormous market potential.” – Hugh Sisson, Founder and General Partner

“Ginger Johnson’s Women Enjoying Beer monthly classes are the best! Ginger is a dynamic, knowledgeable, fun and passionate teacher. I have had more fun than that I could have imagined learning about the many aspects of beer. In the WEB classes, I have tasted some of the finest brews on the market in the company of fine women, fine beer and Ginger!? And on top of all this, Ginger is exceptionally adept at pairing the food and brew. I highly recommend these classes for those who want to learn about the growing beer industry in a non-intimidating and fun environment. I also endorse Ginger as a consultant to any business looking for a professional who is really ‘plugged in’ to the industry.” – Organic Nation, 1/2011

“Ginger brought a high level of fun to our first (and we hope annual) 2010 Rogue River raft and craft beer trip. Besides her gregarious personality, Ginger has a deep understanding of the beers that were served on the trip; at each evening’s tasting she spoke about the beers’ histories and “back stories.” This woman knows her beers and which beers pair best with different foods–and unique foods at that. Ever heard of pairing beer with blue cheese, ginger snaps, and smoked salmon? Well, Ginger is a master at discovering unique food/beer pairings that titillated our Rogue River guests’ pallets. What makes her truly unique is her infectious love of the craft beer industry coupled with her ability to connect that love with the audience that she is addressing. Ginger has got it going and our guests totally related to her sincerity.” – Joy Henkle, Bob Meister, White Water Warehouse

“Ginger made the political fundraiser we had at our house for 50 people simple, easy, and thus, enjoyable. She was adaptable to changing numbers and took care of all details from start to finish. All I had to do was open the house and the Ginger took care of our guests. My partner called me “brilliant” for hiring Ginger. I will definitely hire her again.” – Jennifer Garst, private event

“It is a great pleasure to work with Ginger. She has helped us determine our target market and has helped us brainstorm some unique dining ideas for the restaurant. Thanks to Ginger, we had a very successful 2nd birthday week at the restaurant and we are now hosting monthly dinners paired with special beers and wines. She has such a positive and uplifting outlook, you cannot do anything but get excited about your business!” – Tina Colburn, Owner, Ge-Angelo’s Italian Restaurant, Ames IA

Ginger is a precision brainstormer with the ability to grasp new concepts quickly because she listens so very, very carefully. She has the agility of mind to brainstorm rapidly and efficiently – making a 30 minute session unimaginably productive. But that’s the point, when your imagination is not productive you need to do something to bring in some help fast, sooner not later, yesterday not two weeks from now. I enjoy working with Ginger because it’s like having enthusiastic employee on my side, on my team, without me having a company big enough for employees! – Jean Eells, Owner, E Resources Group, Webster City, IA

“Pre-Women Enjoying Beer, I thought about beer went only during Octoberfest and with pizza. Now I not only know more about beer(s) and brewing, but am a believer that beer goes with dessert too (my favorite course). The meetups are a great time to meet new friends, learn more about beer, laugh, and enjoy beer paired with delicious foods. Ginger is an instigator of beer trivia and laughter, and a great source of social inspiration around the beer venue. It’s a new day of Women Enjoying Beer at its best and getting better all the time.” – Eileen Dunn, Medford, OR

“Ginger recently lead a Brainstorming training tailored for our branch staff meeting. Ginger was well prepared, entertaining, and– as always- enthusiastic. Thank you Ginger!” – Karen Cruise, Youth and Shelter Services, GRIP Mentoring Program, Ames IA

Paul Livingston, Realtor, Hunziker and Associates, Ames, Iowa

Good work Ginger! It looks great! All this hard work we are doing is really paying off and I am so excited about it all starting to come together. Thanks again!” – Plant Life Designs, Windsor Heights, IA

“Ginger, you are an excellent host, primarily because you’re thoughtful of others, but also because you’re outgoing and I believe your attn to detail is unsurpassed by many who claim to make that their top priority. Often when I think of you, I think of the [event] you threw and how incredibly exciting that was, and the size of the place was never thought of simply because you ‘filled’ each room with “jazz”! I think the talent you possess is somewhat of an innate skill you’ve fostered throughout life …” – Dave Larson, owner/operator, Attention To Detail, Fargo ND

“Thank you so much for sharing your insights on Customer Service! As mentioned and “wow,” you covered a lot of territory in two hours. Very impressive! Bobbi and I both received many positive comments after the meeting, mostly related to, ‘Ginger kept it moving and were exactly on point regarding customer service and the customer experience’.” – Mark Miller, DuPont Corporate Real Estate Manager, Pioneer Director of Corporate Services

“Ginger Johnson has more ideas — good ones — in five minutes than most people have in five years. Moreover, she knows how to execute those ideas. An example is the event she organized and hosted for me in October 2006 when my third book came out.

Ginger suggested that I celebrate the book’s publication with a party and book signing. Frankly, I resisted. I’m a writer; I know the reality of book events: my name isn’t Grisham or Rowling, and I’d be lucky if five people showed up. Indeed, people in the publishing industry– authors, agents, and editors — crack out the champagne if five people wander into a book signing.

Thanks to Ginger’s hard work and creativity, fifty people showed up. (My editor gasped when I told her.)

That happened in part because she persuaded a reporter from the Ames Tribune, which otherwise ignores books and authors, to interview me. The resulting piece appeared on the front page of the paper’s second section (along with a front-page notice of the signing). She also mailed postcards to hundreds of people, touting the evening as one in which guests could taste local beer, nibble on snacks — and meet me and buy my book.

And buy they did! We sold about four dozen books (another remarkable accomplishment: most people who attend book signings don’t actually buy the book.) While I signed copies, Ginger worked the crowd, handled the money, kept the line of people moving, bagged books, and generated a party atmosphere that kept people chatting and mingling long after the event “officially” ended.

Put another way, Ginger Johnson produces not just the ideas, but the reality. She is also — and most important — a woman of enormous integrity and thus a rare combination of talent, creativity, hard work, and honesty.” – Maureen Ogle, Historian, Author, Ambitious Brew: The Story Of American Beer (2007), All The Modern Conveniences (1996), Key West; History of an Island Of Dreams (2006), In Meat We Trust (2013)

“Delivering delectable, local, slow food and fine beer to fast people (at least people that think they are fast). I’m part of a team of 10 cyclists that was being hosted by a family living in Indianola, IA whom we had never met. The team thought what a great opportunity it would be to finish an 80 mile ride, make a lasting first impression and share a meal prepared by someone else. Ginger did just that and the experience resulted in the spontaneity of variables magically coming together to create a memorable moment. The delicious food was perfect for our carnivores, omnivores, vegetarians, and even our Kosher cyclist. The beer, well, after a long, July bike ride in Iowa, who is going to complain about good, cold microbrew? Our hosts were impressed with the food and the concept of dropping in with dinner. Catering to the hunger of our hosts with Ginger’s mobile culinary orchestration is something that we plan to do often.” – Al Brody, Team Schmooze/RAGBRAI 2009

“Any host or hostess wants a special food experience for the guests at their event. Ginger Johnson produces a product that has perfect presentation and delicious food for your next event. I highly recommend her if desire a memorable experience.” – Pat Brown, private event, Ames IA

“I just wanted to say thanks for holding your event at my salon. What a fun evening! What a great group! Your handling of all the details made it effortless for myself and the staff. We have already seen several return to have services and buy product. When can we do it again!” – Drew McDermott, Salon Isabella, Ashland OR

“With Ginger’s ideas and direction we have been able to cultivate a great momentum of support for craft beer in our community. She has been pivotal in providing invaluable education and enthusiasm to all members of our staff and clientele.” – Dustin Myers, General Manager, 4 Daughters Irish Pub
